How Social Media Revolutionized Information Sharing

Image
Today, social media and internet facilities have made it much easier and faster to share information. In earlier times, communication channels were very limited. People mainly depended on newspapers, radio broadcasts, letters, and word of mouth to receive news and important information. Each of these methods took time. For example, newspapers were printed only once a day, meaning any breaking news would only be available the next morning. Letters, sent by postal services, could take days, weeks, or even months to reach distant places. Radio and television broadcasts were available, but they were controlled by a few stations and scheduled at specific times. As a result, information moved slowly, and access to a wide variety of viewpoints was restricted. Today, the internet and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter) have completely transformed the way we communicate and receive information. News now travels almost inst...

Issues like algorithmic bias, privacy concerns, and job displacement raise ethical and practical dilemmas. In this blog post, we’ll explore the darker aspects of AI—how biases creep into algorithms, the risks to personal privacy, and the impact on employment—while discussing potential solutions to mitigate these problems. 1.
